Infrared Saunas

Infrared saunas, also known as far infrared saunas, far infrared therapy cabins and 'infrared whole body deep heat therapy cabins', have significant health benefits through the process of detoxification and improvement in the circulation of the body.

The Difference Between Infrared Saunas and Traditional Saunas

Infrared saunas are very different to traditional saunas. Here is information on both types of sauna which explains the differences and also why the infrared sauna is more effective as a therapy.

Traditional Saunas

Traditional saunas transport heat through the air at sometimes uncomfortable and intolerable temperatures. Traditional saunas transfer heat by circulating hot air, thus warming your body from head to foot. Traditional saunas need very high air temperatures (between 50 and 60 degrees Celcius) to operate efficiently. Most people cannot tolerate these temperatures for very long and it also causes the mucous membranes to dry out, which is why water or steam is used. Conventional steam saunas tend to warm the body's surface rather than penetrating deep into the body.

Infrared Saunas

In infrared saunas the infrared heat rays warm your body directly. Infrared saunas provide an in-depth heat at a more pleasant temperature of between 30 and 40 degrees Celcius. Physiotherm infrared saunas, as used by Inner-Health, can directly penetrate up to 45 mm inside the body. This means that impurities and toxins can be pushed out at lower and more comfortable temperatures, thus providing more health benefits, more comfort, and more enjoyment than a traditional steam sauna. The infrared sauna environment is tolerated well by most people, including those with health problems that prevent them from using traditional steam saunas.
